This is about the biggest and most exciting moment in your life after saying yes, and now it’s time to love and feel loved.
Throughout my years of experience working as a wedding photographer, I’ve been allowed into the wonderfully loving world of so many touching couples, whom I had the pleasure to join during the most important few days of their life.
Having done so, I’ve seen incredibly sweet people get emotional over not having had the right outfit, and others get upset because they decided on a classic photoshoot when they really wanted a modern one in the studio. So, here are 4 tips for both of you to prepare for being portrayed in a studio:
Do your research: look at photographers’ portfolios and see which shoot style you feel most drawn to, as everybody has their signature way of editing the photos they create.
Treat yourself: The most important aspect of an engagement photoshoot is your happiness and desire to start a joint venture with your partner. And you wouldn’t be able to show that if you are a ball of nerves! So, treat yourself – do some self-care and gift yourself some sweet moments of happiness alone the day before so that those beautiful photographs bring positive memories too!
Wear your heart on your sleeve: What you wear for a studio shoot is incredibly important, as different textures look differently through the camera lens, and as a Swiss Wedding Photographer, I would advise you to wear wedding dress fabrics such as silk that look similar to the actual dress size and colour for the sake of continuity and reflectivity of the lights. I have had many loving couples who regretted having decided upon that branded sweatshirt, rather than that semi-formal shirt that would have fitted the momentous occasion nicely.
Jewellery and Makeup: Choose something simple. My experience tells me that many sweet couples had regrets because of the details. The extra black eyeliner or the big reflective necklace that made the shoot much more difficult than usual certainly made them want to retake the shoot. Make sure that you pick an outfit within your style but do keep it minimalistic and let the eyes set on the beautiful moment instead.
